Palatine has more architectural variety than most northwest suburbs. The blocks within walking distance of the historic Metra station include older Victorian and Foursquare homes from the early 20th century. The mid-century neighborhoods that grew between the 1950s and 1970s feature solid postwar ranches and splits. And the newer subdivisions across the village include 1990s and 2000s production homes.
